Artificial intelligence firm OpenAI is facing “intense discussions” to steady its ship, after employees threatened to quit in support of ousted CEO Sam Altman. An internal memo from OpenAI’s vice president of global affairs Anna Makanju described the firm as being in “intense discussions” to unify the company, with management in discussions with the board, Altman and newly appointed interim CEO Emmett Shear. Microsoft has attached conditions to a potential return for Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman, including the resignation of the current board and a restructuring of its governance. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has stressed that, “We really want to partner with OpenAI and we really want to partner with Sam.” #OpenAI #Microsoft #SamAltman #AI
