OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, confirmed on Thursday that it had been hit by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on Wednesday. According to Bloomberg, the attack was allegedly orchestrated by a group of Russia-backed cybercriminals calling themselves Anonymous Sudan, in retaliation for OpenAI’s support of Israel. A DDoS attack is a malicious attempt to disrupt access to a targeted server, service, or network by overwhelming it with a flood of internet traffic. OpenAI said they were dealing with periodic outages as a result of the attack and were continuing to work to mitigate it. Despite this, the company reported 100% uptime since February this year. This is good news, as it shows that the company is taking the necessary precautions and that their measures are working. #cybersecurity #DDoS #OpenAI #ChatGPT
