Microsoft is working with Inworld AI, one of its M12 venture arm’s portfolio companies, to create an Artificial Intelligence (AI) toolkit for Xbox game developers. This toolkit will offer an AI “design copilot” and an AI character runtime engine. This toolkit is meant to enable developers to use AI to generate game dialogue and narrative tools. Microsoft is aiming to deliver state-of-the-art AI tools to game developers of any size. There is potential for this toolkit to be used to create more stories faster; however, this may come at the cost of fewer writing jobs overall. Microsoft has implemented an AI development policy and ethical principles to ensure the responsible use of the toolkit. In August, Inworld AI raised $50 million in Series A funding, bringing the company’s valuation to over $500 million.
This is good news for game developers as they will be able to access state-of-the-art AI tools that may help them create better games. The use of this toolkit should be monitored closely to ensure the responsible use of AI and to prevent a decrease in writing jobs. #AIToolkit #GameDevelopment #Microsoft #InworldAI #AIEthics
