Crypto exchange Kraken is set to share data on tens of thousands of its users with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), in compliance with a June court order. Specifically, information regarding cryptocurrency transactions above $20,000 made by Kraken customers between 2016 and 2020 will be shared, including account history, name, date of birth, Tax ID, address, and contact information. Kraken customers affected by the announcement were contacted via email on Wednesday. The company had previously resisted the IRS’ demands for information, and is framing the matter as a victory for privacy advocates. This follows similar cases of the IRS requesting data from Coinbase, Circle, and SFOX in the past. #Kraken #IRS #CryptoExchange #PrivacyRights
