In Q3 2023, proof-of-stake assets saw a dramatic surge in staking rates, reaching an all-time high of 52.4%. Staking is the process of actively participating in the operation of a blockchain, helping to secure the network by discouraging malicious behavior. The most staked networks last quarter included Aptos and SUI, followed by Mina, Solana, and Cosmos. Unfortunately, the increase in stake rates resulted in the average staking yield dropping by 0.4% to 10.2%. Ethereum continues to dominate the staking sector with 79% share, but is suffering from a record low staking yield of 4.5%. Despite this, the total value of staked assets saw a 3% increase compared to Q2 and a 17% increase year-over-year, reaching as much as $73.5 billion. #staking #PoS #Ethereum #Cryptocurrency
