Solana’s largest decentralized finance protocol (DeFi), Marinade Finance, has begun blocking UK users due to “compliance concerns” regarding Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations. This follows similar action taken in the region by crypto businesses like Bybit and PayPal, who have withdrawn from the UK after the FCA’s recently implemented promotional regulations. Luno and Binance have also begun to block customer investments in crypto and refuse new UK customers, respectively. Despite this, geo-restrictions are not commonplace for decentralized platforms like Marinade, which do not require certain validations in identity relating to know-your-customer (KYC) measures. #Solana #UK #DeFi #FCA
