Gucci’s Cosmos exhibition touched down in London last week, offering a unique experience that rips up the rule book of the traditional fashion retrospective. Created by British impresario Es Devlin and curated by fashion historian Maria Luisa Frisa, it celebrates Gucci’s most famous designs by generating emotion and using technology to do it. Visitors enter the exhibition via a static reproduction of London’s Savoy Hotel elevator, accompanied by a soundtrack that tells the story. Other features include a pair of monumental statues, upon which suits by former Gucci creative directors Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, and Alessandro Michele are projected on a loop. Additionally, there is an immersive Zoetrope experience that brings to life the equine inspo behind the house’s signature horsebit loafers. Finally, Gucci has also translated new creative director Sabato de Sarno’s Milan Fashion Week shot debut for gaming platforms. This is a unique and innovative way to celebrate the history of Gucci and reconnect with the real world. #Gucci #Cosmos #FashionHistory #EsDevlin
