Ransomware payments have decreased in 2021 according to a recent report. Cyber security firm Check Point Software Technologies Ltd reported a 32% decrease in ransomware payments made in 2021 compared to 2020. In addition, the average ransom asked for declined from around $233,000 to $157,000. The reason for the decrease is attributed to an increase in law enforcement actions against ransomware attackers. Despite the decrease in payments, ransomware remains a major threat.
